Model 1873 Springfield Trapdoor Rifle, 32 5/8" barrel, cal. .45-.70, good bore with sharp rifling, but dirty, ramrod missing, butt plate door missing, forestock has been shortened by 8", one loose barrel band, no cartouches visible, much original blue remaining, however freckling throughout, hammer screw missing, rear sight is missing, for some unknown reason lock plate is marked "U.S. / L.G. & Y / Windsor- VT" (Lamson, Goodnow & Yale, Co.), reason for this is unknown as all trap doors were made by Springfield Armory and so marked, LG &Y manufactured model 1861 contract rifles, so this lock plate must be a later replacement, usual dings and dents to wood, working condition.
