Fine Remington 1863 "Zouave" Rifle, Made C1862-1865, .58 cal. single shot muzzle loader, 33" barrel with seven groove rifling. Barrel marked with usual "V" "P", eagles head and three leaf rear sight, brass barrel bands, nose cap, trigger guard, patchbox and butt plate, two unreadable cartouches, missing front sling swivel. Excellent rifling. Lock plate is marked American Eagle/ Remington's. Ilion, NY and US in front of hammer, 1863 behind hammer. Rifle may have had very slight cleaning, good working condition, an excellent example.
