16th/17thC Friesian Carved Oak Continental Chest, A rectangular form with molded edge top, 58" wide x 20" deep, the case has the front panel chip carved with three panels with circular designs and wide borders also chip carved, resting on a heavily molded base with four corner block feet, 21 1/2" tall, two antique metal locks, good old surface, the back edge of the lid is an old replacement, comes with custom fitted modern cushion on the top, possibly French, Dutch or Scandinavian of the first period. Provenance: Comes from a local estate collection, old label on reverse "Sante Freves & Cie" pencil notation hard to read.
