John Haley Bellamy, Maine (1836-1914) Eagle with Provenance, This carved and original painted spread wing eagle is 25" long x 9" tall, the classic form with his head turned to the left when viewing it with a banner above, painted "Don't Give up the Ship", noted on the back in pencil dedicated to John Everingham, the consignor's great grandfather in Kittery, ME, who lived about 1 1/2 miles from Bellamy's studio, a photo of the dedication available. The eagle has descended in the family until now, they had glued some small breaks (original pieces) that had occured along the way, by Arthur Swanson, Cider Hill, ME, in an expert manner.
