Frank Soule, John H. Gihon, and James Nisbet, The Annals of San Francisco, Containing a Summary of the History of the First Discovery, Settlement, Progress, and Present Condition of California, and a Complete History of all the Important Events Connected with Its Great City: To Which are Added, Biographical Memoirs of Some Prominent Citizens (New York: D. Appleton, 1855). Inscribed "P. Lolor/Compliments to/Mr. and Mrs. 'Capt. Henry'/Ship Noonday/San Francisco 28 Feby. 1860." Henry was captain of the clipper ship Noonday, which sank outside the San Francisco harbor on Jan. 1, 1863, when it hit a rock that still bears its name, Noonday Rock.
