Nice U.S. Model 1860 Staff & Field Officer's Sword, Retailed by S. N. Meyer, 1860-1865. This sword has a thin blade that is marked U.S. and decorated with an American eagle, a panoply of flags and floral scroll. It was disliked by officers, most of whom used the more robust 1850 model, due to the flimsiness of the blade. The back of the guard folds down so as to not wear on the uniform.
