Musket and Powderhorn, A) Gunsmith made musket using a U.S. inspected barrel. Typical New England design with brass buttplate, trigger guard, initial plate, nose cap and ramrod pipes. Lock is marked: London/Warranted and was converted from flintlock to percussion. Barrel is held to stock with pins instead of barrel bands. .69 caliber barrel is 42†long and is marked: P/U.S./1833. Probably made up from a Model 1816 U.S. musket. Stock has been spliced about 19†from the nose cap and is otherwise in good condition. Metal is a smooth pewter color. Ramrod included. B) An early powderhorn. No decoration observed.
