Rare Northwest Coast "Nootka" Early Cedar Mask, Important large size 18" tall x 8" wide mask with red paint across the mouth area and lining eyes and black paint or darkened areas on the forehead, eyes and chin, the mask was worn by a string or strap attached the backsided edges, see old holes, some inside chipping and cracks, and a coat of varnish/shellac overall, 19thC or earlier, remains of smoke odor as it was probably hung in the clan for a number of generations.
