17" French Fashion Doll and FDR Trunk with Clothing and Provenance, French fashion doll marked (size) 5 and FG5 on shoulder plate. She has a bisque socket head on bisque shoulder plate with pierced through ears, blue glass inset eyes and closed mouth. She has her original cork pate and long curl mohair wig which is affixed securely to her head. The body is white kid leather and has gusseted joints and individual stitched fingers. Wearing original clothing of two piece red silk walking outfit, straw hat with velvet trim, underwear and German shoes. There is some red light staining on her arms from the dress with age. There are several pieces of clothing included with this dolls wardrobe, cotton plaid dress, 3pc maroon and black silk velvet walking outfit, 3pc cloth walking outfit, extra jacket, skirt, shawls, hats, muff, lace, fan, shoes, etc. Trunk is marked FDR on side and is a leather covered dome top style with tray, several compartments with wheels and measures, 18" x 14" x 11 1/2", patented 1868. Provenance: Belonged to Fanny Davenport Rogers, found in the attic of the Charles MacVeagh home in Dublin, NH. Fanny Rogers was married to Charles MacVeagh and moved to his family summer home to live. Mr. MacVeagh served as US Ambassador to Japan in the 1920s.
