Important Beriah Goddard Rhode Island Chippendale Secretary Desk, A walnut bonnet-top two part secretary, the top section with applied panel under the bonnet and on each door with reeded 1/4 columns on the corners set on a fall front desk with a shell carved divided interior over four graduated drawers case supported by OG feet, case width 36", height 86" and depth 21". Old refinished condition with minor repairs; C1750-60 with old replaced brasses. Provenance: Massachusetts collector in descent from his parents who purchased from John Walton, NY, who purchased from a member of the Beriah Goddard family with persona; letter from them.
