Two Old Firearms, A) Ithaca LeFever Nitro Special 16 gauge double barreled shotgun. Made in 1936.Good working condition. 28 inch barrels with full and modified chokes. 2 3/4 inch chambers with excellent bores. Descent barrel blue with some mottled plum brown. Receiver is a pleasing plum brown color. No pitting visible. Checkered wrist and forend. Forend has a crack that appears to be stable. Wood shows the usual dings and dents. Length of pull of 14 1/4 inches. B) Quite rare and interesting Hamilton #15 .22 short rifle, not working now but in restorable condition. Take-down model, circa 1910. Plymouth, Michigan manufacturer of inexpensive .22-caliber rifles. Established by Clarence J. Hamilton in 1898. Company ceased production in 1945. Over one million rifles were produced between 1900 and 1945. Despite the fact that there were many Hamilton rifles sold, these little guns were used hard and most did not survive. Hamilton rifles in excellent condition are hardly ever encountered. A very nice project for the home gunsmith.
