French Model 1754 Flintlock Infantry Musket Made At The Charleville Armory. Typical of the muskets supplied to American troops during the Revolution. Lock is marked "Charleville" plus the letter "D" and a tiny star in front of the hammer. Walnut stock shows dents, several small splits along the barrel inletting and some wood loss around the lock. The wrist has been cracked and been reinforced with a clever thin metal wrapping held in place by tiny nails. A cross and the letters "HR" were carved into right face of the stock long ago. The retaining spring for the nose cap is missing. All furniture is iron. Button tip rammer. Length overall: 59". Barrel length: 44 1/2 ". Bore diameter: .69". An interesting example.
