Important N.H. State House Desk, this c.1819 was made by Porter Blanchard of Concord, N.H., documented to be one of three known forms to exist today, 36 1/2"t x 64"w x 21 1/2"d, woods of birdseye maple and mahogany, pine secondary wood, good old finish, replaced brasses, feet trimmed approx. 2", see page 26 "Plain and elegant rich and common" (Document N.H. Furniture) for a similar example, Provenance and descended in the Chandler family of Hillsborough, NH, a descendant of William Eaton Chandler, Concord NH, who was a representative during the years 1862-64.
