A Superb Hupa or Karuk Elk-Horn Dentalium Purse. Of classical form, the tubular purse carved from Elk-horn with transverse slit and original cover attached with hide strap; incised designs serrated designs colored with red ochre and bluing. Old museum or collection number at top. A very fine and rare example of the type with a superb patina and signs of use. 4 3/4"L.
