Lot of Civil War Accessories Which Descended in the Family of William Sumner Dudley, Townsend, Mass: A 7th Regiment Mass. Kepi made by Wm H Horstmann Co. Phila, C1861-64 with leather visor and silver threaded band along with # 7 on the front, on the top "Mass" with a red and gold diamond, interior has a crisp logo on the liner with tear to the rear seam, leather sweat band is intact but loose, good condition overall, this Regiment mustered out in July 1864; model 1840 heavy Cavalry Saber marked Ames Mfg Co, CABOTSVILLE(MASS) on one side and US over ADK on the other side of the ricasso, brass 3 fingered hand guard that is marked MS on the pommel, 49 on the top of cross guard, nickel plated scabbard is also marked 49 at the opening as well as ADK and 23 on one side and MS on the other at tip, blade appears unsharpened and has great gray patina, leather wrap and wire wrap are intact with 2 breaks to the wire at the pommel, scabbard wear at rings but solid good overall condition; James Dixon & son powder flask with shell design on both sides, screw off top marked from 3-4 drams probably for a shot gun, 3 screw collar and 4 hanger ringlets, light dents and handling marks, probably cleaned but good overall condition; Civil War era cannon canister grapeshot, 4 iron balls 1 1/2" and (4) 1" appear to have been dug and then varnished; Vintage bar of OK Soap, Proctor and Gamble, made in USA and Ok Soap embossed on the sides clearly, dry and dark in color, oval 14" photograph of Mr Dudley and his wife in the late 19th C; he joined the Union Maryland Company F, 1st Cavalry Regiment in12/16/1862, he died in Townsend , Mass in 1916.
