A fine and rare Upper Sepik shield, Iwam, Upper Sepik; Papua New Guinea
The shield of classical style, with serrated curvilinear designs and eye-like shapes, the center with a band of radiating zigzags. The whole with a fine old surface and coated with numerous applications of red, white, yellow and black pigment. The back with raised flanges and attached handle. H. 70 1/2"
