A fine and old Teke or Tsaye disk mask, Teke or Tsaye ; Republic of Congo (Brazzaville)
The old mask of classical form, conceived as a flat disk with shallow geometric carving, the upper hemisphere with linear motifs and half-circles, the lower portion with stubby nose and disk-like mouth, the perimeter pierced with remains of original feathered coif. A fine an old example of a much sought after and highly forged style. H. 13 1/2"
