A fine and very large Zuni Frog pot. Zuni Pueblo, New Mexico, USA. Height 20"; Diameter 22". MADE AFTER 1940's, Please be aware that this is NOT an early 20th century Olla. The pot was sold and was returned due to the bidder thinking it was earlier than it is. We make NO representations that this Olla is earlier than the 1950's. It is likely the pigments are not the same traditional pigments used in earlier Zuni pottery. NO RETURNS ON THIS ITEM UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. DO NOT BID IF YOU DO NOT AGREE.
The huge olla with four raised frogs about the shoulder, the neck with typical designs, the body interspersed with painted butterflies and dragonflies. Dark brown on a cream slip. Possible area of repair to mouth, though may just be a firing flaw. Overall excellent. A rare example and a beautiful piece. Property of a New England Private collector, by descent
