A fine and old Lele face mask. Lele people, DR Congo H: 11". Of classical form, the mask with high arching brows, the eyes and nose thin and slightly raised,gentle rise to the pursed lips. The surface once reddish now completely blackened from use, remains of polychrome and applied dots to the cheeks. Pierced at the perimeter for attachment to a headpiece. A fine and old example.
