Two West African stools Ashanti, Ghana & Bamileke, Cameroon. Heights: 14 1/2", 11" The first a classical Ashanti example with arc-like seat, and struts with serated designs, the center with a high column completely hollow with openwork; exceptionally good and old patina. The second, a Bamileke example, possibly Bamenda or Oko, depicting a leopard and figures in classical style; fine signs of age and use. From a private New England collection, purchased over 30 years ago.
