A highly unusual and powerful Burkina Faso mask. Probably Toussian people Burkina Faso. H: 20 1/2". This unusual old mask has qualities of the Toussian, in the flat form of the mask itself and the horned top, yet the addition of metal on the face and the pigmentation probably attach it to a different though related style. Undeniably old, the mask was owned by Dr. Zollman in the mid-1980’s and purchased from an older collection. A fine and rare example. On a custom base. Tribal Arts Gallery, NY; Ex.
