A Solomon Islands pectoral ornament. New Georgia or Choiseul; D: 4.5"A necklace consisting of a piece of carved Tridacna shell in the form of a large ring, used as a form of wealth and status, the fiber band around it with nassa shells and small beads made from coconut husk and some glass beads. A fine example and in excellent condition. Field collected by Dr. Gerald Bloom on the Harvard Expedition.
