A fine Upper war Sepik shield, Papua New Guinea. April River or Bahinemo; Papua New Guinea. H:73". The shield of elongated form with serrated design around the perimeter, a head carved in high relief to the top and then lozenges with circles and arcs, the whole in shades of red, orange and yellow pigments against black and white with some loss and staining.
