Captain W. Bailey Inscribed Cane, shaft consists of stacked baleen disks inlaid with steel and ivory buttons, carved ivory top with the captains inscription with leaf decoration and baleen banding and dots. Probably owned by Captain William Bailey of the whaler Halcyon, built as a brig in Maine in 1842, then converted . It sailed from New London in 1843, under Captain Bailey on a whaling voyage.
