A Russian Icon of the Mother of God depicting a large image of the Blessed Virgin with inset circular image of the Christ child. At either side are angels and images of St. Demetrius and St. Pelagia, whose saint days are both celebrated on October 8th. Brass oklad with modern silver paint, 12 1/4" x 10 1/2". The reverse bears a Ministry of Culture export permit from Latvia, 19th century or earlier.
