Japanese Signed Wakizashi Length Ancestral Sword. The Sword's blade shows a large grain pattern throughout and a straight Hamon (hardened portion of blades edge). The nicely proportioned blade appears to be unaltered and the Nakago (Tang) is signed with Mei characters and is nicely rusted showing good age. The blade is in very good condition but the sword does have several slight flaws in its metallurgy and several macroscopic nicks along the length of its blade .The sword mounts are of fine quality workmanship and are of traditional patinated brass with gold filled accents. Ray skin covered handle is wrapped in silk banding and retains both of its ornamental brass with gold accented Menuki. Blade measures 17 1/8" long and is 22 1/8" in length overall.
