Nehemy Jean, 1931-, Haiti, purchased around 1955, oil on canvas painting of a napping Haitian Shoeshine, signed upper right, "N. Jean." Painted prior to Mr. Jeans formal training in New York/Brazil. This purely Haitian work represents Mr. Jeans original vision of Haiti and her peoples, 30" x 22", there is a 1/2" long tear in the canvas below the artist's signature.
