Drawing, Adolph Topperwein (Texas, 1869-1962). Pencil on paper of a cowboy wearing a Mexican Sombrero while smoking a cigarette signed lower right "Topperwein, 1937". Inscription on back of frame reads "Original Pencil Drawing by Topperwein given in 1937 to Gus Peret, "Peters" Exhibition Shooter, Yooralla, ORE. Col. Rex Applegate". Topperwein was the son of a Texan frontier gunsmith and became a world class exhibition shooter working for Winchester repeating arms starting in 1901. His greatest shooting feat took place at the fairgrounds in San Antonio Texas in 1906 when he missed only 9 out of 72,500 airborne wooden blocks in 10 days. Estimate $200 to $300
