Lot 580: Japanese Tanto

Japanese Tanto - Japanese Tanto in nickel plated brass mounts (almost all nickel plating has been worn or polished off). Blade has been scratched throughout by steel wool or something similar, some rusting from handling. Blade measures 10 3/4" to hilt. We have been unable to remove handle to see the tang. Probably mid to late 19th century. Provenance: A Hillsboro, NH collection. Estimate $400-500
