Oliphant" to Paymaster in the Navy, June 1st 1861, signed below in back ink "Abraham Lincoln" also registered "Five- the lowest number of same date takes rank" signed "Wm P Moran" on the left hand border, green sunburst seal on the lower section, on parchment, 16 1/2" x 13 3/4" matted and framed under glass, wrinkles, fold marks, NOT taken out of the frame. Provenance: Descended in the family until now; comes with a pencil signed WH Bickwell etching of Abraham Lincoln, 11 1/2" x 9 1/4" sight, mat stains, framed under glass, dated 1928.
