Lot 141: A Fine and Rare Old Hopi Kachina Doll

A Fine and Rare old Hopi Kachina Doll. The Kachina of Classical form with remains of white impasto over the entire surface and some pigmentation to the face indicating the eyes and cheek designs. The ears and tubular mouth attached and the arms held tightly tot he body with elbows bent and hands to the mid-section, the skirt with remains of black pigment, small feet. Age cracks and fine signs of use and wear, Possibly 19th C. Ex. Sydney and Lynn Lerman Collection, purchased C. 1970 in Atlanta from a private dealer, sold by the heirs of the estate. 13 3/4" tall.
