A) Albert Palmer's Class of 1861 yearbook. Illustrated with photographs of graduates and faculty, many inscribed and signed. Including professor Joshua Chamberlain, who would go on to win the Medal of Honor as a Brigadier General of the 20th Maine in the Union Army and become governor of Maine in 1867, who writes "Very truly your friend, Joshua Chamberlain, July 4th 1861". Elaborate leather binding, thick pages with gilt edges, loose binding and worn boards. Pages with foxing and wear but photos in good condition. B) General Catalogue of Bowdoin College and the Maine School of Medicine. 1794-1894. Including a sketch of the institution during its first century prepared by George Thomas Little the librarian. Elaborately bound and decorated volume with photos of members of the class of 1861 and updated biographical information including marriage, children, residency and in many cases death information. D) Order of Excercises for Commencement, 1861. 4 page loose document. AND Order of exercises for Class Day, August 5 1861 3pp. E) Bowdoin Bugle, June 1861. 4 sided newsprint. F) Two documents relating to subsequent reunions (1891 and 1901) of the class of 1861. Provenance: From the family of Albert DeForest Palmer, class of 1861, who went on to become a Baptist minister in Plaistow, NH.
