Half stock Percussion Cap Rifle with a 22.25" rifled octagonal barrel in .32 caliber. Barrel is impressed, "D.H. Hilliard, Cornish, NH, (1842-1877) serial "#1680. " Barrel has a very fine hooded post sight dovetailed in at its front and a dovetailed V-notched sight just above the makers name. There are 2 holes in the top of the barrel just forward of the hammer, the furthest rear hoe having threads. Side lock and hammer are simply engraved with the name, "Smith." Patch box is expertly fitted but shows no engraving and appears to have been polished and may be a replacement. German silver mounts are polished clean and screw plate on opposite side of side lock was engraved but has been mostly polished clean. Stock wood beneath scroll work trigger guard in impressed, "1680." . Please study photos carefully for accurate assessment of condition.
