Ceramic forms of artwork and decorated utilitarian vessels have existed for virtually all developed cultures predating written history. Incised or paint decorated ceramics are often the only remnants of left of ancient cultures and the use of decorative ceramics persists to this day. Ceramics can speak to us of the past and are as varied in form as are the people, cultures and periods they represent.
