Ceramics at The Cobbs

Ceramic forms of artwork and decorated utilitarian vessels have existed for virtually all developed cultures predating written history.  Incised or paint decorated ceramics are often the only remnants of left of ancient cultures and the use of decorative ceramics persists to this day.  Ceramics can speak to us of the past and are as varied in form as are the people, cultures and periods they represent.  The Cobbs Auctioneers have sold ceramic artworks and utilitarian objects from around the world including items from the Middle East, Continental Europe and Greece as well as important English and American ceramic works of art of all ages.  Everything from Italian Majolica, Paris Porcelain, “Norton” stoneware to Han Dynasty funerary objects regularly passes through the auction hall.
