Research: During a consultation (2021) with the Chief Conservator at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, Boston, MA, it was pointed out that there are slightly “visible under drawings” around the mouth, a technique Cranach used before he painted. It was at this expert’s direction to further consult with Williamstown Art Conservation Center, Inc., Williamstown, MA., pigment and XRF analysis completed 2/01/2022. Additionally, a wood analysis by Direct AMS Bothel, WA., carbon tested, median date 1564, completed (January 2021).
