18thC Nuremberg Gold and Jeweled Cross Necklace, Elaborately decorated with fine metal work and marked on reverse "N" for Nuremberg, the cross has been spectrometer tested as 22k gold (the chain tests lower carat gold), set with four large lavender purple amethysts and eight small lavender pearls and one cream pearl in the center of the cross which is surrounded by oval cut green stones (likely emeralds) and finally a small round green stone on each end arm. The cross is suspended from a delicate clasped seed pearl chain consisting of alternating links of four white seed pearls flanked by a small gold bead link with a single rose colored pearl link between. The chain terminates into a gold and silver mounting with three rose cut diamonds which then connects to the top attachment on the cross, the section of rose cut diamonds has an open loop back which allows the cross to be taken off and substituted with another pendant is desired. The total drop of the necklace is 17 3/4", the chain is 28 1/2" long including the diamond section and the cross measures 2 1/2" x 2 1/2", the total weight is 37.6 grams. The necklace comes complete with an antique French burgundy box specially fitted to the shape of the necklace.
