Rare Starr Civil War Cavalry Carbine, Used by Company G of the 1st Arkansas Cavalry regiment and so marked on the top of the barrel. Invented by Ebenezer Starr and manufactured in Yonkers, NY, this breechloader was rated better than the Sharps in Government testing. Most went to the Western Theatre and were used by only four regiments. Only one regiment marked their carbines, the 1st Arkansas, making this a rare weapon. .54 caliber with a 21" round barrel. Dings and dents in the wood from combat use and a split at the toe. Metal is a dark pewter color. Gun works correctly.
