Gaucho Knife - Large Cutlery Handled Spear Point Knife Almost Certainly From Argentina.Both the hollow handle and the scabbard fixtures have the maker's mark "C. Vigca" and are 800 grade silver. Engraved floral design on grip. Blade has been married to the handle at some point in time. Partial blade maker's name and address in Spanish on recasso, somewhat obscured by the extension of the grip. First part of city address is "Buenos". Probably Buenos Aires but obscured.Blade has a later bluing job, obscuring an etched design. Scabbard is leather with silver furniture. Ca: 1870. Bl: 11.5". Loa:16.5".
