William C. Emerson, Conn./California (1865-1937) oil on board painting of a treed landscape with women dancing, signed lower right "W.E", 28" x 36", unframed, some small areas of paint loss. Provenance- New Hampshire collection who purchased from a descendant of the artist. Emerson moved to California from NE and changed his style of painting to be a tonalist and stayed there until his death. The Paintings here came from his grand-niece in Mass., who inherited them.
