Two Late Period Kachina Dolls. A) A Late period Kachina, Hopi. Of articulated style, depicting a figure with blackened face and carved in late naturalistic style, but with great finesse, the figure holding a snake.The whole with painted body ornaments and leather moccasin tops, standing on a base that it is attached to. B) A Late period stone Kachina, Zuni. Of articulated style, the unusual Kachina doll made of stone, primarily Jet, Carnelian and with Turquoise, coral and alabaster, depicting a dancing Kachina spirit holding a large implement in one hand and smaller (possibly broken) implement in the other. Silver highlights on a stone base. Late but very beautiful and highly accomplished work. The bottom says possibly referring to the date of manufacture. Unsigned. 11" tall and 9" tall.
