Lot 85A: 18th Century Greek Triptych Icon

18th Century Wooden Greek Triptych Icon, of the Virgin of Hodegetria, (one who shows the way), where she holds Christ in her left arm and points to Him with her right. The 2 side panels display the various images of Christ's ministry. Side panels hinge to center panel with primitive wire mechanism, size open is 9 1/8" wide x 8" tall. Wood is cracked and warped due to age and there is some minor in painting. Image is very clear with remains of gilt and hues of red and browns. Provenance: A New York Collection, purchased in Italy.
