Top of barrel by breech is nicely engraved with an American eagle with a shield on its chest and 3 arrows clasped in its talons. Side lock has etched decoration and is impressed, "Lane A. Read, Boston (1826-1849). Brass patch box is engraved and of the Lancaster, PA style. Base of stock holds a "T" shaped screwdriver that is released by lifting a steel lever below and in front of the patch box, 49 1/2" long, barrel measures 33 3/5", missing ram rod.
