Zedekiah Belknap, 1781-1858, MA, oil on wooden panel of a young girl with a red necklace holding a bouquet of roses, 3/4 length portrait, unsigned but with a strong resemblance to this artist's work, 26" x 22", in what appears to be the original black frame with a gold liner. Family provenance as passed down, child's name Alvina Smith born August 1819, and painted 1823 at the age of 4, her parents Mary and James Smith were painted by Belknap and her parents circa 1819, portraits are in the Harrison Gray Otis house in Boston.
