Lot 22: Exquisite Obendorff Mauser Custom .257 Roberts Bolt Action Rifle By Engel and Troesch, Boston, MA

Exquisite Obendorff Mauser Custom .257 Roberts Bolt Action Rifle By Engel and Troesch, Boston, MA, This is an amazing rifle exhibiting some of the highest quality workmanship the cataloger has seen in 40 years. It is in minty condition with 100% blue on the 24 inch barrel, receiver, hinged floor plate and trigger guard. The bore is bright and shiny with sharp rifling. The bolt and controlled feed extractor have been jeweled. This is a very elaborate rifle with an elegant tiger striped stock showing just a couple of miniscule and very slight scratches in the hand rubbed finish that are hardly noticeable. The lovely fleur-de-lis checkering is in perfect condition. The butt is also checkered and there are two ivory circular inlays in the butt as well. The pistol grip cap and forend tip are also made of ivory. The stock design has a beautifully sculpted raised cheek piece. The rifle is mounted with a Marble's receiver sight and the front sight is a ramp mounted beed. For longer shots there is a very good classic Lyman Alaskan 4 power scope with fine crosshairs mounted in the famous Griffin & Howe hand detachable mount. The receiver mount must be removed to utilize the scope. Finally, there is a blank silver initial oval mounted in the belly of the stock and sling swivel studs for carrying this beauty. 7.9 pounds. One of the finest examples of the rifle maker's craft that I have seen in many, many years.

Estimate: $1,300 - $1,750
