Very Nice Ames Manufacturing Company, Chicopee, Mass. 1869 Naval Cutlass. Large brass half cup hilt marked on the left ricasso "1862 D.R. U.S.N." "D.H" is from David Reynolds, US government inspector. Grip had sharkskin wrapping, now largely gone. All of wire wrapping missing, single fuller blade, serial #15M850 stamped on quillion. A genuine American civil war naval cutlass, no scabbard, blade ln: 26", loa: 32".
