A fine Tanzanian shrine figure. Central Tanzania H:16". The head laterally compressed with rounded forehead and rounded gentle features, the figure kneeling with arms akimbo bent at the elbows and open hands to the chest; the belly rounded and protruding, the legs well proportioned. The base of the figure eaten away from insect depredation. Remains of red pigment throughout. On a custom mount. Ex. Private NY collection
