A fine and rare Bakongo staff. Bakongo peoples, DR Congo. H: 51". The long staff with typical Bakongo fisted hand at top; the hand well carved and wearing worn decorative incising on the thumb. The upper portion pierced twice at perpendiculars for the attachment of packages of empowering materials, now removed. A very rare example, and a fine carving with superb patina. On a custom base.
